As Seen On You | Of Oat And Earth

We were lucky enough to sit down and have a chat with the beautiful Krystle of @of.oat.and.earth. A beautiful food photographer & recipe developer located right here in our own little surf side village.

She creates the most amazing whole food, plant based recipes that are free of gluten, dairy & refined sugar. Yep, you definitely want to give this a read...

What is your name? Where do you dwell?

My name is Krystle, and I dwell in the beautiful seaside town of Thirroul, on the NSW South Coast.

How do you enjoy the nature that surrounds you?

I love to go hiking in the escarpment, finding waterfalls, secret swimming holes and the most amazing view points to appreciate the sheer beauty of the northern Illawarra.

Tell us a little about your little town of Thirroul

Thirroul is a gorgeous little town nestled between the mountain and the sea. It’s the most lovely little community of creatives and friendly faces. It’s filled with locally-owned and operated boutiques, delicious eateries and plenty of sunny beach and picnic opportunities.

What inspires you to create in the kitchen?

I am very much inspired by the seasons - the produce that’s abundant and local at the time, and the types of food that I most enjoy throughout different phases of the year.

Food is also my love language - I am always inspired to cook because it is my way of doing something nice for those I love and appreciate. The ability to be able to nourish and care for myself and others through food is a significant inspiration.

Do you have a favourite winter recipe you can share with us?

I do. I have many! For a savoury option, I can’t go past my warming Butter Chicken and delicious naan. However, I also live off of copious cups of tea in the winter and that always requires a scrumptious slice of warmly spiced Maple and Pecan Carrot Cake to accompany it!

Filled with comforting chai spices, and topped with a smooth cashew cream cheese icing, it is an absolute winner in my books!
